Music A to Z
A is the first letter of the alphabet. It is also the name of one of our strings. Before we play, we tune our strings to the sound called "A".
B is for Bass. Not bass like the fish, but bass like the bass violin. Meet Bob, the Big Brown Bass. B is also for bow and bridge. The bow is what we hold in our right hand. Would girls put this bow in their hair? No, this bow is too long and made of wood. The bridge holds our strings over the instrument. Can you walk across this bridge? No, but you can see the strings stretched over it.
C is for Count. How many strings are on the violin? How many strings are on the bass?
C is also for Clap. Can you clap four times? Let's count and clap at the same time. Say, "One, two, three, four. One, two, three, four." Continue and let the bass play along.
